Semi-monthly |
The semi-monthly pay cycle allows the Timekeeping Administrator to choose the exact start and end dates of each pay period.
Overtime is only calculated on weeks within the pay period in which its Saturday falls within the pay period. This allows overtime to be based on a full week while maintaining semi-monthly regular hours pay.
For example, in the June 1-15 pay period, the first week begins on a Thursday (June 1) and ends on a Saturday (June 3); the second week begins on a Sunday (June 4) and ends on a Saturday (June 10); and the third week begins on a Sunday (June 11) and ends on a Thursday (June 15). Overtime will be paid on Week 1 and Week 2 of the pay period. If a pay period’s last week does not end on a Saturday, it is not possible to accumulate more than 40 regular hours that count toward overtime. Due to this fact, any overtime accumulated for Week 3 will be totaled in the following pay period.

As a rule, if a pay period begins in the middle of the week (Week 1), overtime is calculated for the entire week (May 28 - June 3), including the days from the previous pay period. However, regular hours are only paid for the current pay period (June 1 - 3).
If the pay period ends in the middle of the week (Week 3), the overtime for the week is not calculated until the following pay period (June 16 - 30).
